About Owen: Owen is a computational biologist, aspiring ethnomycologist, and mushroom-hunter interested in all things fungal. While learning how to identify wild mushrooms as a kid growing up in the Bay Area, he became fascinated by the intersection of mushrooms, foraging, and society and culture. After graduating from college, left the US on a fellowship to study modern and traditional mushroom foraging systems in 6 countries across Eurasia. Returning home, he is excited to become a part of the growing interest in mushroom foraging that is gripping the Bay Area.
